Rebecca returns from abroad with boy-friend James, who has an idea for Alison and Paul to get through to Joe but the little boy climbs onto the roof again - resulting in Alison attending a support group and suggesting special schooling. Eddie and Nicola have separated but pretend they are still together when her parents Grace and Vincent turn up, announcing their own divorce though Vincent works out the younger couple's deception.
